II Film Literacy Think Tank

After a 1st meeting held during LOOP Fair 2016, FILMCLUB and LOOP Barcelona festival gather once again to organize a second meeting dedicated to Film Literacy entities and professionals in Catalunya.

The focus of the event is to create a communication bridge between experienced entities that promote film and other audiovisual art forms as pedagogical tools in schools.

In an open and horizontal space we will to share experiences, difficulties, necessities and think of ways to join our efforts as a community and find solutions and further develop our projects.

Cultural manager and researcher, focused on gender and pedagogy of cinema and visual arts in Barcelona, holding a Degree in History of Art at UB and a Master in Museum Studies and Critical Theory at UAB and participated at the Independent Studies Programme (MACBA).

From 2010 until 2012 she co-directed International Women’s Film Festival of Barcelona and gained 7 years of experience in educational visual arts and film culture at Drac Magic where she was doing her practice of cultural programming and educational activities with institutions as Mercat de les Flors, Filmoteca de Catalunya, El meu primer festival or Barcelona City Council.

Currently Blanca Almendariz Granero is working at Digital Films, a production company focused on visual literacy where she’s been working in the development of educational resources for Obra social “la Caixa” exhibitions: “Georges Méliès. The magic of movies” and “Pixar: 20 years of animation”.

She is also teaching cinema workshops for kids and offering professional advice on language education and media culture for education agents and institutions.

She is a member of Col•lectiu Tara a group of women, from different professional areas, whose purpose is the study and research on visual representations and feminism.

The Founder of Digital Films, he works in the realization of films and also does audiovisual training. He has made broadcast, advertising, educational videos and music videos. Additionally, he has developed educational projects for “la Caixa”, the Municipal Institute of Education of Barcelona and MACBA, among others. He has also produced audiovisual works for renowned directors as Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Joaquín Oristrell, Borja Cobeaga and Rafa Cortés. He has been the co-director of five editions of DiBa, the Digital Barcelona Film Festival. He currently combines the direction of Digital Films with teaching at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Open University of Catalonia (UOC).

Maria Castellví Lloveras

Graduated in Audiovisual Communication with the feature film Júlia Ist (2017), in which she participated as scriptwriter and producer, and Master in Social Communication from UPF. She studied for one semester at the FAMU Film and Television School in Prague, where she was a reporter for the TV3 Blog Europe program.

She has performed direction, production and distribution at the production companies Nanouk Films and WhatsappDoc, and currently works in the audiovisual cooperative Compact. She has specialized in audiovisual pedagogy, collaborating with associations such as El Parlante, A Bao A Qu and Escola Súnion, and is currently developing an audiovisual festival for young people in co-production with Fabra i Coats, Reteena.

Sílvia cofounded Association Càmeres i Acció (2012), which works audiovisual techniques and social journalism as an intervention and transformation tool. Currently, in this association she designs and coordinates several audiovisual intervention and facilitation projects. She also  has a degree in Sciences Communication and she has studied Documentary and Genre. She is finishing an official training in Mediation Group Process by IFACE (European Facilitation Institute) Sílvia Cepero has produced, mounted and co-directed different documentaries “Virus” (25 ‘-2013), “Rap en la Trajana” (30’ – 2014), “Homeless Portraits” (60 ‘- 2014), “Puzzle” 60 ‘- 2015), “Living to the Limit” (60’-2016) and “(From) We Build the Refuge” (Today). She has been part of communal and independent media as a journalist, director and editor. He has done several courses in discourse critical analysis of and social transformation through dance and theater. She is a video activist and a feminist.

Writer and musician from Barcelona, known for being the creator along with Carmina Roig of the famous children’s program Los Lunnis de Televisión Española. Specialized in the creation of children’s television programs, he has collaborated in the most important public and private television channels in the country. He has combined his audiovisual activity with musical composition and literary creation, having published numerous recordings and publishing works.

Xavier’s training has revolved around marketing and business management and his professional experience has focused mainly on business development in different sectors and markets. He has devoted his last eight years to the development of projects and cultural services, education and cultural tourism, a fact that has enabled him to collaborate with institutions like the Museo Nacional del Prado, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Musée National Picasso in Paris, La Caixa Foundation, FC Barcelona Foundation and MAPFRE Foundation, among others. Xavier is a curious and analytical person, and he enjoys teamwork both personally and professionally.

He has made, mounted and co-directed the documentaries “14N Vaga general: The Will of a People” (60 ‘- 2012), “Rap en la Trajana” (30’ – 2014) 2014), “Puzzle” (60 ‘- 2015), “Living to the Limit” (60’-2016) and “(From) We Build the Refuge” (Today).
Currently, he is participating in Lamosca.tv project (TDT channel) and at the Support point of the Migrants. He has also been part of different theater companies as an actor performing and imparting different social intervention courses through the Social Theater.

Since 2013, she has worked in the ICEC Public Sector, in the Department of Culture, whose aim is to broaden, in a transversal way, the publics of culture, to capture them, to retain them and to reach new audiences. To achieve this goal, the field is working on 2 lines; On the one hand, deepening the knowledge of the audiences through the commissioning of public studies, teamwork with cultural agents, surveys, segmentation, etc. On the other, the actions are enhanced where the public is key from the beginning of the project, through campaigns and concrete actions.

Involved in specific projects, such as SCENA 25 and FAS 6 ANYS TRIA UN LLIBRE (Performing Arts and Book) carried out in the last 4 years, her career has positioned her closer to the audiovisual sector. She collaborates in the conceptualization, development and production of the days that address the theme of cultural audiences for the professionals of the sector.

Previously she had worked in the film and television production company, Ovideo TV and in the Center of Conservation and Restoration of the Filmoteca de Catalunya.

She holds a degree in Art History from the University of Barcelona and has a postgraduate degree in Cultural Management at IDEC, Pompeu Fabra University.

Co-director of MODIband Cultural Projects, an organization that promotes and manages initiatives promoting cinematographic diversity among children and adults in Spain. The most prominent and historic MODIband projects are My First Festival,  Sala Montjuïc and recently they created the independent film distributor Children Rita & Luca Films. Mireia Manen is entitled Sociologist and cultural management. She has worked both in public housing management (ICUB – Nous accents 2006) and private enterprise in the field of audiovisual production and market studies, and has been consultant for many years developing studies and plans of cultural action. Today she dedicates her time exclusively to projects MODIband.

Graduated in Geology from the University of Barcelona in 2015, she decided to change her professional course in 2010 when became involved in the documentary filmmaking with self-produced pieces including “Madame Bretó” (2012), “Se Fa Saber!” (2013), “l’Alè del Drac Adormit” (2013), “Oryza Sativa” (2014) and “Animalització” (2015).

She began to participate in workshops and films at the cooperative of Mitjants Audiovisual Magic Dragon, where she continues to work. She has also collaborated with the association Anda & Fala by organizing participatory documentary workshops, with the La Bonne Women Culture Center, with the project on the gendering of toys “She Culture,” and with the loPati Art Center carrying out workshops on intervention and appropriation.

Taking advantage of her previous experience as a geologist, she performs audiovisual reports on the experiences in the field of different scientific research groups, collaborating on the “Phytoscope” (2014), “Shake” (2015) and “Event” (2017) projects.

She is currently promoting the creation of the association “Paral.leles,” which, among other things, develops pedagogical materials based on visual culture and creative workshops through collaborative methodologies from a gender perspective.

Researcher and documentary filmmaker, she has developed her work in the field of Visual and Theatrical Arts as an actress and narrator. She also studied Psychology, Visual Arts and Theater in Panama. In Barcelona, she has specialized as a documentary filmmaker. Currently she is doing a specialization in Scripts. As a researcher she has pursued historical, artistic and social explorations, such as the ethnic research of black populations, descendants of those who participated in the construction of the Panama Canal.
