Away tells the story of a young couple who move from Iran to the Netherlands. The woman tries to explore the new environment and adapt herself to it. However, the contrast between where they came from and where they now live, their isolation and being away from family and friends, make the woman dispirited and homesick. The memories and nostalgia for the country encourage the woman to abandon reality, by sleeping and, thus, living in her dreams, but a peculiar phenomenon threatens her life…
Parisa Aminolahi (Tehran, 1978) lives and works in the Netherlands since 2008. She is a freelance filmmaker, photographer and painter. She studied theatre stage design (BA) and animation (MA) at University of Art in Tehran, and Documentary filmmaking (MA) at Royal Holloway, University of London. Her work covers a spectrum of themes such as displacement, exile, homeland, family and childhood memories, utilizing childhood and old family photographs, self-portraits and her own family members as subjects. Her mediums range from Photography, documentary, filmmaking, animation, painting and mixed media. She is grant recipient of Netherlands Film Fund, One World Media Student Film Bursary, the Chevening Scholarship and had screenings and exhibitions in Iran, the UK, Canada, Australia and Armenia.

Ag Galerie is a privately owned space wholly devoted to exhibiting contemporary works of image-based media by established Iranian artists. The gallery owner and director, has been actively organizing and curating exhibitions since 2008. The decision to open a permanent space in January 2015 was the result of a desire to further promote Iranian art through art fairs and publications. The gallery building is a restored 1960’s villa in the northern part of Teheran.
After three years and twenty-four exhibitions, in the summer of 2018, we opened a second location in Teheran’s bustling city-centre and art district. The second space is a restored 1930’s villa and will also house our newly launched Ag Experiments program; a non-profit effort aimed at supporting young talent.
We support creating an artistic dialog between artists from Iran and elsewhere and we therefore invite curators and artists to exhibit at our gallery.
