SIREN was a major participatory performance during The Annual Watermill Summer Benefit on July 29 of 2023, involving the collaboration of 12 auto mechanics, centered around the disassembly of a police vehicle with Galindo seated in the backseat. This performance, sheds light on pressing issues surrounding law enforcement in the United States.

Regina José Galindo

Regina José Galindo is a visual artist and poet who primarily uses performance as her medium. Based in Guatemala, she draws from her own context to explore and denounce the ethical implications of social violence and injustices related to racial and gender discrimination, as well as human rights abuses stemming from endemic inequalities within contemporary power dynamics. She received the Golden Lion for Best Young Artist at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 and the Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands in 2011. Galindo has participated in the 49th, 53rd, and 54th Venice Biennales; Documenta 14 in Athens and Kassel; the 9th International Biennial of Cuenca; and the Shanghai Biennale in 2016. Her work is included in various public collections, such as Tate London, the Pompidou Foundation, the Guggenheim Collection, and the Rivoli Museum in Turin.
