In the video, there are different sizes of the word “Urgent”. There are urgencies in small, medium and large sizes that represent that feeling of apocalypse on a scale of one to ten.
“The different types of urgencies appear in tense relationships; for a few moments the small Urgent appears in front while the large Urgent is stamped in the background. Then there are misperceptions between the different scales of words, a mixture that generates the paradox between the different emergencies ”, explains Chaia.
Lia Chaia (São Paulo, 1978) lives and works in São Paulo.
She graduated from the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation in Plastic Arts, in 2003.
In her work, she studies the daily life, culture vs. nature, tension vs. lightens, urban vs. rural. Her research also focuses on the body and its reactions to the ruptures and stimulus of the day-to-day. As a result, she uses all sorts of media in her pieces: performance, installation, video, photography.
