Single channel video
The 4 minute silent video work Wenn du der Träumer bist, bin ich dein Traum consists of a close-up of the face of a young woman, her gaze turned inward. Every now and then a bumblebee escapes from her mouth like a slip of the tongue, to fly back into the frame a while later and reenter her mouth. Her serene expression doesn’t change and we hardly see what happens, wonder if we really did see what we saw.
For this work a VFX bumblebee has been created by Canadian CGI expert Greg Marshall.
Like the snake, the bumblebee is seen as a liminal creature. In Celtic mythology, it is a messenger between our world and the spirit realm.
