The chronicles of the time recount that in that movie by the Lumière brothers in which a couple is shown while feeding their baby, the viewers’ fascination was not caused by the tenderness of the familiar scene, but by the movement of the tree leaves in the background, shaken by the wind. Because of their desire to capture reality, it is not unjustified that they are attributed the birth of the documentary genre. Following his particular relationship with documentary, in El olivo (Olive Tree, 2010) artist Claudio Zulian (Campodarsego, Italy) recreates that original movement, while portraying the vibration of a monstrous olive tree, metaphor for the humanization of the savage in the technified olive-oil industry. An ubiquitous lightning and a comprehensive post-production work almost put us in front of the documentary record of an olive tree from another world.

Director of Aceton, Filmmaker, Video Artist, Musician and Writer. His career has developed mainly in cinema, video installations and theatre. With his documentaries and films he has been selected for various awards and venues such as the AlJazeera International Documentary Film Festival, PriMED, LOOP-Barcelona.
At LOOP 2016 he presented his Artwork “Power no Power” (2013) which considered new forms of power and “El Olivo”(2010), a metaphor for the humanization of the savage through technified industry. He also conducted the UMVA (Unitat Mòbil De Video Arquitectura) workshop.
At Loop 2017 he will present “Orígen, cuerpo, ciudad”, the film is a joint work of the participants of the workshop led by artist Claudio Julian and Matteo Guidi at the centre Torre Barrina in L’Hospitalet. As contribution to the overall theme of this year´s Loop Festival on the beginnings of video art, the film offers a personal mediation on Nam June Paik´s oeuvre. It is also an exploration of the city of L’Hospitalet through the performance of young members of the local Associació Ítaca and the images that the urban environment may suggest.

Diana Padrón (Las Palmas de Gran Canària, 1984) és investigadora, crítica i comissària independent. Llicenciada en Història de l’Art per la Universitat de La Laguna, Màster en Estudis Avançats en Història de l’Art per la Universitat de Barcelona i Doctora per la mateixa universitat en societat i cultura: història, antropologia, arts, patrimoni i gestió cultural. Ha estat investigadora post-doc convidada a la Università di Padova, Université de Lille i Goldsmiths College – University of London. Col·labora amb diverses revistes d’art, pensament i política, i ha estat coeditora amb Martí Peran de la revista REG|AC (Revista científica d’Estudis Globals i Art Contemporani de la Universitat de Barcelona). Com a comissària independent ha organitzat exposicions per al Sant Martí Centre de Cultura Contemporània, Centre Atlántico de Arte Moderno, Fundació Mies van der Rohe, Museu Picasso de Barcelona, Festival Loop Barcelona, 13 Biennal de l’Havana, Centro Galego de Arte Contemporànea, Centro de Arte La Regenta i Casal Solleric. És membre de l’Institut d’Art Contemporani (IAC) i de l’Associació Catalana de Crítica d’Art (ACCA).
