Aquest any, el Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya acull tres obres en vídeodel duo artístic Masbedo (Nicolò Massazza, Milà 1973, i Iacopo Bedogni,Sarzana 1970), unes peces que estableixen un diàleg directe amb les seccions del museu recentment renovades d’Art renaixentista i Barroc.Madam Pinin (2017) proposa una reflexió sobre el concepte de bellesa,la seva transitorietat i la seva conservació a través de la història de la conservadora Pinin Brambilla Barcilon, una dona que va dedicar cinquanta mil hores de la seva vida a la restauració de La Santa Cena de Leonardo.Fragile (2016) també se centra en el concepte de «cura» i «fragilitat del’art» i mostra la imatge d’un paó malalt portat pel seu mestre a través de les sales de la Galeria Savoy de Torí. Finalment, Blind Mirrors (2019) posa en escena la convergència/conflicte de dues cultures aparentment distants,la d’Europa Occidental i l’Indi-Tamil, i ho fa en l’evocador saló de festes del Palazzo Gangi de Palerm en ple segle xviii. Aquí és on el cineasta italià Luchino Visconti va rodar la famosa escena de la dansa en la seva obra mestra The Leopard (1963).
Paola Ugolini
Paola Ugolini lives and works in Rome. She is an independent curator and critic and regularly writes for Exibart. She has curated a range of exhibitions and artistic projects largely focusing on Italian artists, film and the body in performance art. In 1990 she was part of the curatorial team of Ubi Motus Ubi Fluxus for the XLIV Venice Biennale; in 1993 she was the co-curator of Macchine per la Pace for the XLV Venice Biennale. In 2006, she was co-curator of Gino de Dominicis solo exhibition at PS1 and MoMA, New York. In 2017 she curated Corpo a Corpo for La Galleria Nazionale in Rome, an exhibition which focused on the use of the body in historical and contemporary artists. In addition, Paola is curator of Corto Arte Circuito’s artistic projects, Art Advisor for the production company InBetweenArtFilm and part of the Scientific Commitee of AlbumArte. Within her collaboration with InBetweenArtFilm, since last April she is also the curator of the video section for the Museo del Novecento in Florence.
