While refusing any comparison to traditional art media, video characterises for its ephemeral nature and a specific language embedded in time that brings it close to cinema. Generally devoid of a narrative structure, it often deploys moving images to construct symbolic and conceptual imaginaries that implicitly hint to specific social, historical and economical conjunctures. Being the prologue of La forma del temps, – an exhibition scheduled to take place at Casa Elizalde next January -, this video selection gathers together a group of artists that, by way of poetic and seemingly abstract associations between music and images, recount of precise geopolitical contexts while putting forth the potential of video as a creative vehicle of (hi)stories.

1986, Madrid
Marco Godoy (Madrid 1986) vive y trabaja entre Madrid y Londres. Licenciado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, ha ampliado sus estudios en el School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) y es Máster en Fotografía en el Royal College of Art, Londres. En 2012 fue seleccionado en la convocatoria Injuve con su consencuente exposición en Tabacalera Madrid. El año siguiente su obra se incluyó en diversas muestras como Matadero Madrid, Dallas Museum of Contemporary Art, Stedelijk Museum s-Hertogenbosch, Städtische Galerie Bremen, Siart Bolivia Biennal 2013. Desde entonces ha participado en bienales, Liverpool Biennial 2014 y prestigiosas instituciones como Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA), Londres, Palais de Tokyo, Paris, Whitechapel, Londres, todas ellas en 2015, Centre Pompidou, Paris, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin en 2016. En el 2018 presentó una exposición individual en la Sala de Arte Joven gracias al premio Primera Fase: Programa de Producción Artística Comunidad de Madrid-DKV, además de participar en «Generaciones» en La Casa Encendida.
