Lhola Amira is a Cape Town based artist interested in the intersectionality between which is “real” and which is “performative”. She has made numerous solo appearances both locally and abroad, most recently at The Studio Accra or at House Jamestown, Ghana; and having also notable earlier presentations at AVA Capetown or MITTE-Barcelona. Her work has been included in group shows at SMAC Gallery in Stellenbosch, 2016; and at 6ix Studio, New York, 2014.
She has recently been awarded the AiRS, Artist in Residence Skövde Art Museum; and she will be in residency in Skövde, April 2017. Earlier residencies include the Jiwar Creation and Society, Barcelona, 2015; and at Vasl Artists’ Collective, Islamabad, 2010.
