Raphael Fonseca (b. Rio de Janeiro) lives and works in Denver, United States. He is the head of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art at the Denver Art Museum, where he has worked since 2021. He is part of the curatorial team of the 3rd Counterpublic Triennial in St. Louis, United States, in 2026. He was the chief curator of the 14th Mercosul Biennial, which happened in the first semester of 2025. He worked as an advisor at Prospect.6, the triennial event held in New Orleans, United States, in 2024. He also curated, along with Renée Akitelek Mboya, the 22nd edition of Sesc_Videobrasil Biennial in 2023. He is a researcher at the intersection of curating, art history, criticism, and education. He holds a PhD in Art History and Criticism from UERJ (State University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
